Rock Hopping (26 Harvester - 3 Brewfest 586 OY, 7/21/98
RL) Camen, Elmarth, and Oolsen make their first trip off world on board
the
Red Turtle, and are appropriately awed at the sight of the sun
appearing over the curved horizon of their home world. An elven man-o-war
on patrol, the Elentori, stops their ship for an inspection. They
reach the Rock of Bral. Bannock returns the late Chinzel's helm to the
Bank of Bral, which was upset at Chinzel for missing several payments on
the helm loan. The PCs quickly adapt to Bral, with newcomer Camen slipping
into the role of tour guide to Thiykss, a lizard woman off the Celestial
Swamp. Oolsen quickly finds the temple to Celestian and is welcomed
by the priest Halard. There he reads up on spelljamming lore in the standard
tome on the subject by Omniculus. Otherwise they loaf around in the Warthog
Tavern, off of the main square. Elmarth BS's with an old sailor who is
full of monster lore. Then they accept a job offer from a hobbit named
Olo to clear out a mysterious tomb on his home asteroid.
Two days later, they are on Pearball, courtesy of the hobbit's Swanship
Grey
Feather. The hobbit colonists of Pearball began losing sheep after
an ancient fallen obelisk shifted, revealing a black hole in the ground.
The intrepid PCs are led to the hole by a young hobbit named Carrot. Unable
to interpret the runes on the obelisks, they enter the hole. Inside they
find interconnected chambers of worked stone. Their nerves are on edge,
and when a door mysteriously moves Camen and Oolsen bolt for the surface.
But they gather their wits and return to defeat the Hook Horror in the
next room. A sheep's corpse in the lair suggests that Horror was the hobbit's
villain. They continue their investigation and defeat three orcs in the
next room. They take the orcs prisoner. The conscious one tells of visiting
Pearball on a ship, then entering the hole past standing obelisks, then
remembering nothing.
