Exploring Miraburg (20-22 Patchwall 586 OY, 8/2/99 RL) Fingle, Axel, and Jos were quite busy. Talking with the dock guard, he remembers that docking fees are really only 1 s.p. per day. He also recounts some rumors: stone demons have been harassing ships coming to and leaving Miraburg, and the mining asteroid Grape was found frozen and abandoned.

They then visit Mayor Silver. Silver is intrigued by the casino idea, and asks to see some kind of business plan. He laments the gargoyles (stone demons) who have been snatching crewmen from visiting ships. When he complained to Bral, they only sent him a case of 12 daggers that are supposedly able to harm the gargoyles. The daggers must be returned to the Bralian authorities. Silver offers to have his shipyard repair the Dardak (save for gnomish modifications) if the gargoyles are killed.

Their conversation is interrupted when an upset, human woman wearing a scimitar, apparently named Coline, rushes in. She begins yelling at the mayor about logging operations of some sort. The PCs are turned out of the mayors office to wait, and are served rather good cakes and mediocre tea. Coline and Silver leave for the forest, and the mayor promises to see the PCs later.

They go to hang out at a tavern, Keesha's Roadhouse. After the place fills up with lumberjacks, the inevitable brawl starts when some turbaned guy named Vil wants Fingle's bar stool. Fingle gives it up, but then keeps giving Vil a hot seat with Molecular Agitation. In the ensuing chaos, Axel takes out one guy with Magic Missiles and Jos knocks out a few more with his shield. The victorious PCs offer their opponents healing and drinks.

The next day they hire a grizzled guide named Rajic. He takes them to some ruins in the forest. They turn out to be a pile of stone blocks in a clearing. After poking around and moving some, Axel identifies elvish writing on some of the blocks. After further digging and demolition, they find a small open space in the wreckage. The only things of interest are a legbone of some sort and a partially visible carved map of the asteroid. Axel goes to thread a rope around the obstructing block, but is bit by something venomous. His arm starts to swell alarmingly, and they retreat to the town. The mayor stops by the ship. Seeing Axel's plight, they go to the shrine of Pholtus, operated by Angus Brightlash. Angus alleviates some of the poison symptoms, but encourages Axel and anyone nearby to join him in worship services.
